Get to know Carlos Corberán better
Review his career here: his training in Spain and his journey through Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, Greece and England.
Voro González addressed questions from the media in his pre-match press conference for the game against CD Leganés (Sunday 7:30pm CEST).
Expectations for Butarque
"I expect a very even game between two teams that have a lot at stake and have a good dynamic going. We know how we have to act to be competitive and get the win. We are optimistic that the team are going to provide that: We see it in training, we see the good dynamic and with that we are sure that the team are going to give their all. We hope to finish our chances and get the three points, then in the other two games get the maximum possible points to achieve our goal of reaching the Europa League."
The boost from the win over Valladolid
"Of course, after these recent three games in a very short time, winning the third one and now having had more days to prepare for the next game, the dynamic is very important. .
The group seem very motivated to me, and in training the dynamic is very good. Every sign points to the fact that the team are going to compete, without losing sight of the fact that it isn't going to be easy. The opposition are solid, won away against Espanyol two games ago -in a match in which there was a lot in play for both teams-, and took a draw against Eibar. They are a team who have four or five concepts that they carry out very well. We're forecasting an evenly-matched game, in which we will need a lot of intensity. We are focused, and everything we are doing is to have the biggest chance of winning."
Chances of getting into Europe
"Our approach and our mentality is to take things game by game, knowing that tomorrow's game is a vital, important one. We don't know how many points we are going to need to get into Europe, because we're seeing that all of the games are very even and there are teams who are coming into the battle. We're going to focus more on tomorrow's game, which has 3 fundamental points at stake that we have to try to earn."
The final run-in
"All of the remaining games are tough, and the first is against a team that are playing their final card to stay up. I do not consider that tomorrow's game has any indication that it will be easy. All of the teams have something at stake. We have to focus on what we can do, and we must be look at things in the very short term: Tomorrow we have a match and the only focus is on that."
Kang in
"He has seemed good this week. His situation is the same as it has been all year. In this period of time we are looking for what's best for the team, and taking the decisions that we feel are best for that. That's where the players come in, for the specific characteristics that they have. It's no problem. Even if he hadn't played in the last 5 or 8 games, it doesn't matter because it's what we think is best for the team. We look more at the group than at individual situations for each player at all times."
No away wins since last December
"It is true, it is a fact, but I do not consider that information important either, because the players are focused on tomorrow's game. Also, being behind closed doors, the fact that you are playing away or at home does not change things much. There is desire, conviction and determination to go and compete in a match -regardless of where it is. In this case I do not consider it to be so important; it is more a statistic that is out there. Logically, it has led us to be where we are, and we have to correct it. We have three games left and it is not such a determining fact for me."
